from Call Carlos newsletter. Lots of choices for craft beer within a half an hour from Cruilles. If you go to the link there are even more. Of course, it’s tough to visit many breweries in one day if you’re the driver, but you can always taste and then bring some back to Cruilles.
Sant Antoni de Calonge
La Martarita
This small bar-cum-vermuteria-cum-pizzeria is half a block from the seafront and stocks some very nice Belgian and American style craft beers, brewed here in Catalunya. One minute’s walk from the beach on Plaça Catalunya, it opens during the summer season, usually from Easter to around mid-September.
La Tastaolletes
With its beautiful location right on the seafront promenade in Sant Antoni, this place is a lovely place for lunch in particular. It’s a restaurant rather than a bar (and a very good restaurant at that!) and everything here is Catalan, including a selection of Catalan craft brews. Reservations recommended.
Palamós
The Currach
This small Irish-owned and operated bar, a stone’s throw from the church in the centre of town, has two Irish craft beers on tap plus about a half dozen bottled beers, both imported and local. The draft beer is also craft beer, produced by O’Hara’s Brewery in Ireland and now distributed throughout Spain by Estrella Galicia. There is a lovely IPA and a stout that we think is even better than Guinness! Despite its small size, this is a good place for watching sports too.
Bitácora
This very popular spot has Pilsner Urquell from Czechia on tap and a fine selection of Belgian and American bottled microbrews as well as some domestic craft beers you are unlikely to find anywhere else around here. The food here is fantastic too! They even host an occasional beer tasting session with an expert brought in to explain the beers to you as you drink them!
Pals / Begur
William’s Belgian Tavern
The name of this place tells you most of what you need to know! If Belgian beer is your thing you won’t find a better bar than this. It’s just a short walk up the road from Platja del Racó, where Pals meets Begur, so what better way to finish off a day at the beach than with a few top-quality Belgian brews and some delicious food!
Heading away from the coast a little bit we find a couple of absolute gems that are well worth the short journey:
